Our Lady of Lourdes National Shrine
Originally Harms’ farm, the Blessed Mother appeared to Julia Harms at what is today the Grotto. Mary told Mrs. Harms that she would give birth to a child and pass away shortly after the birth. Being a devout Catholic and with this message from the Blessed Mother, Mrs. Harms asked her husband that if at anytime the family sold the property that it be dedicated to Our Lady. This request was fulfilled.
Dedicated in 1926, a replica of the original shrine in Lourdes, France, Our Lady of Lourdes National Shrine in Euclid, Ohio, is carved from imported Italian marble. Within the surrounding grotto, water flows over a piece of stone from the original shrine, where Mary appeared to St. Bernadette. People from all over the world come here to touch the stone and also find serenity in the Stations of the Cross and Rosary Hill. From May through October, masses are held outdoors surrounding the shine and grotto.
Shrine Updates (Renovations)
In order to keep the Shrine in pristine condition, open and welcoming to visitors, the sisters have just completed extensive renovations indoors and out, including work on the tabernacle, the sanctuary lamp, benches, altar railing, carpeting, new railing, new steps, new leveled concrete and asphalt.

Just a reminder: Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine is not a Parish. We do not have parishioners
You must belong to a Parish if you wish to be Baptized, Confirmed, make your First Holy Communion, and Married in the Catholic Faith.
There have been issues where Pilgrims request additional Hosts during Communion to take home.
We CANNOT permit this request.
Our Lady of Lourdes is not a Parish. You must be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion in Your Parish and you must see the Priest in Your Parish to perform this request. If you have a sick person at home, Your Parish will bring that person the Holy Eucharist. We must abide by the rules and laws of the Catholic Church.
